In a mountain valley of Taipan Village, Taijiang County, in Qiandongnan Prefecture of Guizhou, a modest basketball game is drawing the world's attention.

2022年盛夏，一段村民自发组织的篮球赛视频意外在网络上走红。这场在露天球场举办的乡村赛事，没有商业广告，没有明星球员，没有门票收费，却因现场火热的氛围和持续不断的竞赛节奏，被网友亲切地称为“村BA”。

In the summer of 2022, a video of a village-organized basketball game unexpectedly went viral online. Held on an open-air court, the rural tournament featured no commercial sponsors, no superstar players, and no ticket fees. Yet its electrifying atmosphere and nonstop intensity earned it an affectionate nickname from netizens:“Village BA.”

2025年10月，来自美国犹他州的青年球员走进“村BA”现场，与当地球员开展交流活动。

追溯其源头，“村BA”并非横空出世。早在1936年，每年“六月六”吃新节，村民便在乡场上举办篮球赛。比赛从白天持续至深夜，灯火不熄、人群不散，逐渐形成黔东南特有的“天亮文化”。

Tracing its roots, Village BA did not appear out of nowhere. As early as 1936, during the annual"June Sixth"Harvest Festival, villagers would gather at the local fairground to hold basketball games. Matches ran from daylight into the night, with lights blazing and crowds lingering—gradually forming what locals call a unique"dawn culture"in southeastern Guizhou.

出圈之后，“村BA”迅速升级。2023年，贵州省首届“美丽乡村”篮球联赛总决赛在台盘村举行。同年，全国和美乡村篮球大赛（村BA）正式启动。从“村赛”到“国赛”，只用不到一年时间。这场源于苗岭山坳的草根赛事，完成了制度化、规范化的跃升。

After going viral, Village BA quickly advanced to a new level. In 2023, the finals of Guizhou's first"Beautiful Countryside"Basketball League were held in Taipan Village. That same year, the National Harmonious Rural Basketball Tournament (Village BA) was officially launched. In less than a year, the event evolved from a"village tournament"into a"national tournament,"completing a process of institutionalization and standardization.

随后，“村BA”更开启了它的“出海”。

Soon after, Village BA began its journey overseas.

2023年，迈阿密热火队球星吉米·巴特勒来到村BA现场，他身戴苗族银饰，欣然参与活动，与当地球迷互动，用“incredible”（难以置信）形容自己的体验。随后，一些NBA名宿如斯蒂芬·马布里也曾与当地球员同场交流训练。

In 2023, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler visited the Village BA court. Wearing traditional Miao silver ornaments, he joined the festivities, interacted with local fans, and described his experience as"incredible."NBA veterans such as Stephon Marbury have also shared the court with local players for training and exchange.

In 2025, former NBA superstar Tracy McGrady personally attended the games, shooting hoops alongside rural basketball enthusiasts and offering guidance. These moments quickly spread across social media platforms overseas, sparking lively discussions.

这一连串的国际交流，不仅彰显了体育的无国界魅力，也让“村BA”成为国际理解中国乡村振兴的一扇窗口。有外媒评论指出，“中国的乡村版NBA已经成为草根篮球现象，是基层体育热情与社区凝聚力的真实展现”。

This series of international exchanges not only highlights the borderless appeal of sports, but also positions Village BA as a window through which the world can better understand the vitality of rural China. Some foreign media outlets have commented that"China's rural version of the NBA has become a grassroots basketball phenomenon, showcasing authentic community spirit and sporting passion at the grassroots level."

2024年初，中美合拍纪录片《这一站，贵州·热辣“村BA”》通过美国主流平台播出，覆盖31个国家和地区；同年9月，80名美国华盛顿州学生走进台盘村，与当地球队进行友谊赛，并参与中秋文化交流；11月，“村BA”图片展在巴黎中国文旅文化中心举办，吸引法国篮球界人士与主流媒体关注。

In early 2024, the China–U.S. co-produced documentary"Game On: Hoops and Dreams in Rural China"premiered on a major U.S. platform, reaching audiences in 31 countries and regions. In September of the same year, 80 students from Washington State visited Taipan Village for Mid-Autumn cultural exchanges, playing friendly matches with local teams and experiencing traditional festivities. In November, a Village BA photo exhibition was held at the China Cultural and Tourism Center in Paris, attracting attention from French basketball professionals and mainstream media.

Meanwhile, a global operations center for Village BA has been established, with overseas operation partnerships signed in countries including Russia, Thailand, Canada, the United States, France, Hungary, and New Zealand. From sporting exchanges to cultural dialogue, basketball has become a shared language that transcends geography and culture.

从苗岭山坳到巴黎展厅，从乡村球场到国际屏幕，“村BA”不仅是一场比赛，更是一种连接传统与现代、乡土与世界的方式。
