冬季的巴基斯坦信德省坦多贾姆试验田里,明媚阳光中夹杂着阵阵寒意,却抵挡不住村民们学习农业技术的热情。贵州大学“博士村长”麦普苏(Maqsood Ahmed)的现代农业技术培训座无虚席。
看见讲台下一双双对知识充满渴望的眼睛,麦普苏觉得离自己的目标更近了——用在贵州学习的先进现代农业技术,帮助巴基斯坦农村地区消除贫困。
麦普苏来自巴基斯坦,从小出生在当地的农村家庭,种过芒果、番石榴和水稻,有一定的农业种植经验。2023年开始在贵州大学农学院进行植物保护专业博士后研究。
2016年,他决定来中国农业科学院攻读博士学位,这也是他初次踏上中国这片土地。“想法并非偶然。”麦普苏坦言,相较于中国,目前巴基斯坦很多地区的农业耕作方式仍然十分粗放,现代农业技术并不普及。
秉持着“将先进技术带回家乡”的理念,“博士村长”项目与他的想法不谋而合。今年寒假,麦普苏主动报名,为当地农民和学生提供作物生产管理、土壤管理、疾病预防等方面的培训,并走访了巴基斯坦信德农业大学、坦多贾姆农业研究所等重要农业机构。
“由于气候变化,巴基斯坦农业发展面临着很多挑战。”麦普苏手指培训照片向记者解释,图中的田地不仅杂草多,还存在着很多严重疾病,而这些疾病在中国鲜见。
1977年,巴基斯坦信德农业大学根据巴基斯坦相关法案成立,是一所具有鲜明学科特色的综合大学。近年来,以“一带一路”倡议为契机,学校与中国多所高校围绕“中巴经济走廊”建设达成了多项合作协议。
“如果能为贵州大学和信德农业大学牵线搭桥,将是我的荣幸。”麦普苏希望,能够通过“一带一路”倡议,促成双方达成更多有价值的农业合作。
Maqsood Ahmed is from Pakistan and was born into a rural family, where he cultivated mangoes, guavas, and rice, gaining some agricultural experience. In 2023, he began postdoctoral research in plant protection at Guizhou University in Guizhou, SW China.
In 2016, he decided to come to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to pursue a doctoral degree, marking his first time in China. "This idea was not a coincidence", Maqsood said, noting that many agricultural practices in Pakistan still remain quite traditional compared to China, where modern agricultural technologies are more widespread.
With the belief of "bringing advanced technology back to the hometown" ,the "Doctor Village Chief" project aligns with his ideas. During this winter vacation, Maqsood participated in the project, providing training on crop production management, soil management, and disease prevention for local farmers and students. He also visited important agricultural institutions in Pakistan, such as Sindh Agricultural University and Nuclear Institute of Agriculture (NIA) Tando Jam.
"If I can help set up the cooperation between Guizhou University and Sindh Agricultural University, it would be my honor" ,Maqsood said. He hopes to reach more valuable agricultural cooperation between the two sides through the Belt and Road Initiative.
